Privacy Policy

Effective: May 2026. Circly ("we", "us", "our") is a women-only social app for making platonic friendships and shared plans. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the rights and choices you have. We collect only what we need to run a safe community and we never sell your data.

1. Information you give us

Account & profile: name, email address, date of birth (used to compute age and verify you are 18+), gender, city, photos, short bio, occupation, interests, status, profile prompts, and an optional avatar.

Authentication: when you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your verified email and a stable user identifier from that provider. We never see your provider password.

Content you create: plans you host or join, chat messages (text, photos, videos, voice notes), reactions, vibes, group chat topics, reports you submit, and feedback.

Subscriptions & purchases: when you buy Circly Premium through the App Store or Google Play, the store shares a transaction identifier and renewal status with us so we can unlock premium features for your account. We do not receive or store your full payment card or bank details , those stay with Apple or Google.

2. Information we collect automatically

Device & app data: device type, operating system, app version, language, time zone, crash logs, and basic analytics events used to debug the app and measure feature usage.

Location: with your permission, we use your approximate location (city / coordinates) to show you women and plans nearby. You can revoke location permission in your device settings at any time; the app will then fall back to your saved city.

Push notification tokens: if you allow notifications, we store a device token (via OneSignal) so we can deliver alerts for new matches, messages, and plan requests.

Advertising identifiers: free accounts may see ads served by Google AdMob. On iOS we ask for tracking permission via App Tracking Transparency before any identifier is used for personalised ads. Premium users do not see ads.

3. How we use your data

To create and secure your account, verify you are 18+, and confirm you are signing up as a woman (Circly is women-only).

To match you with nearby women based on interests, vibes, and proximity, and to power chat, plans, vibes, and group features.

To send transactional emails (sign-in confirmation, password reset, important account notices) and, with your permission, push notifications about activity that involves you.

To process Premium subscriptions, restore purchases, and prevent fraud.

To moderate the community: detect spam, harassment, fake profiles, underage users, and policy violations.

To debug crashes, measure aggregate usage, and improve features.

4. Legal bases (EEA / UK users)

We process your data on the basis of (a) performing our contract with you when you use the app, (b) your consent for optional features such as location, notifications, and personalised ads, (c) our legitimate interest in keeping the community safe and improving the product, and (d) compliance with legal obligations.

5. Who we share data with

Other users: your profile (name, age, photos, city, bio, prompts, interests, vibes) is visible to other verified women in the app. Direct and group chat messages are visible to participants of that chat.

Service providers acting on our behalf: cloud hosting and database (Supabase), authentication providers (Google, Apple), email delivery (Resend), push notifications (OneSignal), maps and venue lookup (Google Maps), advertising (Google AdMob, for free users only), and crash / analytics tooling. These vendors only process data as needed to provide their service and are bound by contract.

Apple and Google: in-app purchase, sign-in, and store-billing data.

Law enforcement and safety: we may disclose information if we believe in good faith it is required to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the safety of our users.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with advertisers for cross-app tracking beyond the AdMob measurement described above.

6. Data retention

We keep your profile and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently remove your profile, photos, and message history within 30 days, except where we are required to keep limited records for legal, fraud-prevention, or safety reasons (for example, records of serious reports or bans).

7. Your rights and choices

Access, edit, or delete your profile and photos at any time from Settings. Delete your account from Settings → Sign Out → Delete Account; this is permanent.

Control permissions (location, camera, microphone, photos, notifications, tracking) in your device settings.

Manage Premium subscription, see renewal date, or cancel directly in the App Store or Google Play.

EEA / UK / California residents have additional rights , access, portability, correction, deletion, restriction, and the right to object. Email support@joincircly.com and we will respond within 30 days.

8. Children

Circly is strictly for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn an account belongs to a minor, we delete it immediately. Report suspected underage accounts to support@joincircly.com.

9. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States and the European Union. We use Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent safeguards where required.

10. Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), row-level database security, and strict access controls. No system is 100% secure , please use a strong, unique password and report any suspicious activity to support@joincircly.com.

11. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
